I joined a challenge called Holidailies... to blog every day from December 1st until January 1st.
It was gather 'round the piano night at the old homestead. One of my favorite holiday traditions. People seem to assume a romantic vision of what it's like to have musicians in the family--that we're all musical and that we break out in song all the time or randomly tinkle away on the piano.
The reality is that we rarely gather round for a sing-along. It has become our Christmas tradition, though. And one of my favorites. We sang old favorites, old standards and a few kiddie songs and all of us sang--my aunt and uncle, cousin, sister and her three children (including the two teenagers--believe it or not!!), my dad, stepmom and me.
Now I'm super-jolly! I have enough shopping done to "replace" the gifts I can't find: see here for more about that.
Tomorrow is annual college-friend breakfast at 8:30, therapy at 11 o'clock, and hanging out with my big sis after that. Then, in the evening, I put on my fuzzy pajamas and drive around looking at Christmas lights and luminaries, come home to eat Chinese food and watch movies all night.
What if this is as good as it gets?
