Copied from Cat, who copied from Janet ... and on and on and on

1. Go to the Billboard #1 Hits listings (scroll down and you’ll see them separated by decades on the left in the sidebar)
2. Pick the year you turned 18
3. Get yourself nostalgic over the songs of the year
4. Pick 5 songs and write something about how these songs affected you
5. Pass it on to 5 more friends (skipping this part--if you wanna do it, do it)

The year I turned 18... gah...

The hits from 1983: hmmm... what to say about these...
Maneater - Hall & Oates : my friends and I thought it was a naughty song

Down Under - Men at Work : loved the video

Africa - Toto : wasn't sure I understood it (because of the video)

Billie Jean - Michael Jackson : I'm just going to declare this here and now: I NEVER liked MJ, ever. I can't understand why this is one of the best pop songs ever written... I just... don't get it and I hated the video.

Come On Eileen - Dexys Midnight Runners : this was a real favorite of mine. Still is...

Beat It - Michael Jackson : Again with the Michael Jackson... the best thing about this song is the Weird Al cover.

Let's Dance - David Bowie : absolutely loved this song, this album and David Bowie!!!!! His voice is so growly and sexy...purrrrr This was my favorite video all summer that year... I will put on my red shoes and dance the blues...

Every Breath You Take - The Police : ahhhh, yes, my obsession with The Police... I just love when Sting shakes his hair with his head tilted back...

Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) - Eurythmics : another all-time favorite, I thought they looked so cool in the video. Great sound, great look.

Tell Her About It - Billy Joel : this ended up being the first concert I ever attended. Very memorable!!! I loved this whole album, it got me interested in do-wop music and the MoTown sound.
