Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• I’m currently reading…
• Up next I think I’ll read…
• I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
• I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
• I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
• I can’t wait to get a copy of…
• I wish I could read ___, but…
• I blogged about ____ this past week…

This week’s random question: How old were you when you realized that you are an AVID reader?

If I am remembering correctly, it was during first grade when my class had 5th grade reading partners and I realized I could read better than my partner. We both got something out of reading together, though. And I got to read some challenging books because of my reading skills. I didn't realize that everyone was not the same type of reader that I was until second grade, though. I remember that I breezed through the old SRA Reading Laboratory cards and some of my classmates weren't into the challenge.

I would read the new reading book and wonder why we had to take it so slow. Read my post to see what I did to overcome the problem.

When I was in school, I would read in class all the time. I always finished my assignments quickly, so I automatically would read.

I love how we all started loving books early....and I recall we had reading groups, and the teacher put me in the second group...and then had to change her mind when she realized I already knew how to read!

Here's my MUSING MONDAYS POST

We had "Reading Circle" in first - third grades, and got gold stars on a certificate for completely a certain number of books. I remember that it was very important to me, to finish the reading and get my stars. I have always loved books and reading.

I was in the first grade too. My teacher sent a note home to my mom that said, "this girl reads whatever she can get her hands on". I'm still that way!
