musing mondays

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying about it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

This is kind of a ramble. Sometimes my book group selects books I enjoy. Sometimes it selects books I don't enjoy, those I generally do not finish. But part of being a good book group member is reading outside my usual genre and trying different types of books. Which is all well and good, until there's a book like this month's: The Untethered Soul, where some members of the group think this is a life-changing book and I'm scratching my head wondering why. Are we reading the same book? I don't dislike this book, I just wonder if maybe I don't get it.

I can relate to that....I don't belong to a book club right now, but as I meander around the blogosphere, I see books that others rave about and I don't connect to them at all.

I guess that's just how it is.

Here's MY MUSING MONDAYS POST

That happens to me sometimes. That's why I prefer not to be in a book club.

Have a great week!

it is funny..not funny ha-ha but funny weird when you have that book experience..you ask yourself "are we reading the same book??"

I've never been in a book club before, but I have experienced the same thing with friends. I just take it to mean that sometimes, no matter how similar readers are or their tastes are, we're all going to react in our own way to something. I don't think there's any harm in it.

At times I've read a book there's been a lot of hype about and just thought " well ummm I guess I just didn't get it". Here's my MM: http://daystarz.wordpress.com/2013/03/12/musing-mondays-mar-11/
