What’s the best life lesson you learned from a book when you were a kid?
(I specify as a kid because a lot of lessons you learn as a child stick through your lifetime, but things you learn as an adult don’t necessarily get internalized as well. The follow-up, of course, is to ask you whether you would change your answer to something you’ve read as a grown-up.)
I learned a lot from the Little House books--I learned a love of history, for sure.
From the Trixie Belden series--I learned about the importance of friendship and relying on each other. And I gained a love of mysteries.
I also remember the Rudyard Kipling's "Just So Stories" which had interesting endings with a twist. I learned to question everything.

Look at you, following the Ingalls family and into history!
I credit The American Girl books with helping shaping my niece's more expansive, inclusive view of her fellow Americans. It's very important what we read when we're young.
