w.w.w. wednesday

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at Should be Reading and revived here on Taking on a World of Words.

• What are you currently reading? I'm reading The Life We Bury by Allen Eskins and listening to The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie.

• What did you recently finish reading? I finished Divers Clothes Lie Empty by Vendela Vida.

• What do you think you’ll read next? I'm in the mood for a mystery.

I haven't heard of anything of these! What kind of mystery and mystery authors do you like?

I like detective stories and police procedurals.

There's a police book I read more than a year ago -- closer to two, in fact -- that's really stayed with me. It's called Cop Town by Karin Slaughter. It takes place in a very definite time and place (Atlanta in the 1970s) and the plot twists will keep you guessing. But that's not why the book stays with me. It's very gritty, and violent, and candid about a time when women weren't welcome into the boys' club that was the Atlanta Police Dept. I didn't *enjoy* it, but I certainly was impressed by it.

I hope you're liking 'Part Time Indian.' I've heard really good things about it. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!
