Do other people influence what you choose to read? When a family member recommends something, or a friend says they hated a book you were planning to read … does it affect your reading choices? From the archives.
I'm often influenced by family and friends in my reading selections. Although, they say they hear about more books from me than I hear from them. Whenever my stepmother suggests a book I definitely rush out to get it! My sisters mostly like the same types of books that I do, although one likes more religious-themed books than I care for, but I do read them eventually.
I find out books from my students, too. Some of our best discussions are off-class topic but about books and their influences on us.

Sometimes it does, but I usually make my own choices.
