The Joker

1) In this song, Steve Miller claims he's a picker, grinner, sinner, lover, smoker and joker. Do any of those six words describe you? I am a grinner and a lover (of fine things)

2) He maintains he's still a midnight toker. When's the last time you got high? not since my colonoscopy--that was an amazing high!

3) The lyrics include a reference to peaches. Name your favorite fruit.
pineapple, fresh pineapple

4) This song had a big impact on the character of Joey on Friends, who had an imaginary friend named Maurice with the occupation of space cowboy. Did you ever have an imaginary friend? I did not have an imaginary friend because I had Teddy.

5) Steve Miller is the pride of Milwaukee, WI. What else is Milwaukee famous for? Jeffrey Dahmer?

6) Steve Miller considers himself a serious blues guitarist. When did you last feel like singing the blues? I had the blues last week, I don't remember what day specifically, it didn't last!

7) In 1973, when this song was popular, you could buy a portable 8-track tape player for $44.50. On what device do you listen to music most often?
I listen to Spotify most often and either on my iPhone or iPad

8) A Curious George book packaged with a Curious George plush toy was a big seller at Christmas 1973. Tell us about a toy -- either given or received -- that brightened a holiday or birthday for you. My teddy bear, Teddy, was my very best friend for years and years

9) M*A*S*H was one of TV's top-rated shows in 1973. Who is your favorite M*A*S*H character? I always had a soft spot for Father Mulcahy. And I adored Hot Lips Houlihan

You are the first person to ever speak highly about a colonoscopy.
That whole Dahmer thing was too creepy.

Love all your answers.

Jeffrey Dahmer was my, um, brush with infamy. 4th of July weekend, 1991, he and I were both partying at a bar called Carol's Speakeasy on Wells Street. OK, I never saw him, as it was packed on 4th of July weekend. And besides, under the circumstances, I was the last person in there Dahmer was interested in. But still, he and I were both there at the same time.

Just arranged my ride to/from my colonoscopy on 7/21. I don't mind the procedure. Now 7/20 ... THAT I'm not looking forward to.

MASH had so many terrific characters who evolved over the series. Father Mulcahy is a good choice.

Colonoscopy's are life savers. I'm glad you and Gal are on this thing.

So glad you chased the blues away. :o) And, I believe I'll check out Spotify. Thanks!

Wasn't Dahmer the creeper who like our most recent one(kidnapped YingYing) liked to kidnap people and do what he wanted, then repeat....?

Loved reading this. I loved this song. Not so much the message behind the lyrics, but the beat of the music. I have never heard anyone sing praises to the high from the colonoscopy meds. I'll admit it made me laugh! My oldest son had an imaginary wife when he was little. Her name was HickPick!! Thanks for helping me remember this today!

I never get high at colonoscopies!? I have no complaints about the procedure, but ... now I will have to ask my doctor about this!

Re Dahmer: I lived there then. It was a horrible time. For those interested, he killed people--usually young Asian men--and then kept parts of them around for cooking and snacking. Seriously horrific, and shattering to the community.

Now that you mention it, I think I had a nice little buzz from my dual colonoscopy/other thing (where they run a scope down your throat, I forget what it's called, and it's not the SAME scope! I asked.). I'd forgotten about that.

It was hard to pick a MASH character. They were all so well done. Good show.

I have yet to experience the joys of a colonoscopy...but I can't say anyone else has described it as a high.

I never understood how Dahmer's neighbors didn't have a clue. Didn't he live in an apartment building? Evil that deep scares the bejeepers out of me.

Hmmm. Colonoscopy. Never really expected to see that mentioned in connection with getting high!

Yes, Hot Lips! Loved her, too. MASH had so many wonderful characters.
