O, Holy Night

1) This beloved carol takes its lyrics from a French poem. What else can we thank the French for? Poutine (must be made the Quebec way, no imitations allowed!)

2) How well do you know "O, Holy Night?" Without looking up the lyrics, could you sing along with Ella? silly Sam, of course, I know the lyrics

3) In order to get this record into stores in time for Christmas 1967, Ella had to record this in late July. So let's reverse that. Now that it's Christmastime, what do you miss most about summer? I miss being able to go outside without my nostrils freezing together and wearing flip flops

4) Sam is crazy about the open toed pumps she'll be wearing to holiday parties, but that means she needs to get a pedi. Will you be at a salon between now and year-end? I have a mani next Friday

5) Will you be consuming any egg nog this holiday season? And if you do, will it be spiked? I do not drink egg nog, it's a texture thing

6) Thinking of holiday cuisine, what's your favorite Christmas cookie? hmmm... shortbread or gingerbread

7) Sam knows she will get a bottle of red wine from her boss, because that's what he gives his staff every year. Is there a gift you can count on receiving? I don't get anything predictable

8) What one gift would you most like to receive this year? Do you think anyone will get it for you? I'd like to get a couple of gift cards for Barnes & Noble or Amazon, Dunkin' Donuts or my nail salon and I have already received a couple of Dunkin' cards

9) This time of year is big for charitable fundraising. Here's your chance to plug a cause or organization that's near and dear to you. this year I'm all about my local public library, there is even an Amazon donation page

Yes, to Barnes & Noble gift cards! And the library is a wonderful thing to support.

I agree 110% about egg nog. It feels like phlegm! However, if it's spiked I can get it down.

Libraries are important. I had this conversation with my boss ... we were doing a promotion for charitable giving and he thought the phrase, "help the less fortunate" was compelling. But I reminded him of symphonies and Scout troops and PBS (and I should have included libraries) that are vital to our communities and need our support but can't be classified as helping the less fortunate.

I don't know how people live above the Mason-Dixon line, I really don't.

Hope you get all of those B&N cards. I worry that store is going to not last. And then where would I go to look at books for real? I much prefer a bookstore to Amazon.

Poutine! I really need to experience the rest stuff.

Frozen nostrils--I haven't gotten there yet, but tomorrow's gonna be a doozy. Overnight lows of -15. Whee.

At last! The desktop just totally rules the minions of Apple, but please pass the Poutine! The French have been our friends for ages, the ruling class literally bankrupting themselves to see to it that the English didn't win. How can that be repaid?

Hope you get those gift cards, they sound awesome. I've sort of caved to Amazon. I'm so short of time and energy and being in a bookstore where the nice comfy chairs are all full is not happening.

I have been looking for that link at Rav a few times, quitting in frustration, and if you can PM that link to me on Rav I'd be very, very grateful. Thanks for trying so hard on this. My brain is not fully functional at the moment.
