What is your response when somebody tells you “I don’t read.”

I usually pooh-pooh that because we all read more than we think we do. Especially in this digital age. However, I will also say that they haven't found the right books. Then I recommend a few.

I think you are right! I have a granddaughter who says she hates to read. Yet, she can spend all day scrolling the Internet reading! I just shrug!!

I grew up with a reading mom and my kids read, some more than others. But example is a strong influence. My daughter went all the way to Oxford last year and graduated this year from Middlebury with high honors. Part of her success I think was a love of reading. She dreamt of being in England and Scotland where her books took place and got there! Dreams and reading are powerful. Not to go political, because I'd rather not, but your question reminded me on an article I read last week. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/donald-trump-doesnt-read-much-being-president-probably-wouldnt-change-that/2016/07/17/d2ddf2bc-4932-11e6-90a8-fb84201e0645_story.html
