musing mondays

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• I’m currently reading…
• Up next I think I’ll read…
• I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
• I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
• I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
• I can’t wait to get a copy of…
• I wish I could read ___, but…
• I blogged about ____ this past week…

This week’s random question: What is/are your favorite book cover(s)?

I judge books on their covers, maybe it's superficial but the image used to capture my imagination is important. I have too many favorite book covers to list here...

So, I will answer: I bought the following book(s) in the past week:

I pre-ordered Truly, Madly, Guilty by Liane Moriarty, Smoke by Dan Vyleta, With Malice by Eileen Cook and The Ice Cream Queen of Orchard Street by Susan Jane Gilman and the audio of Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg's The Pursuit

Can't wait to hear about The Man He Became. I keep seeing it in the box to the right and think to myself, "C'mon, Kwiz! Pick up Franklin!"

I often judge a book by its cover, too. Some covers make me too irritated to bother with the book, like those that say they are geared toward plus-sized women, but have a Twiggy-sized girl on the cover. Or, those that are talking about retirement, but show 20-somethings strolling the beach. Picky, maybe, but the cover should at least reflect what the book is about, not be totally opposite of it.

I love some of the covers that I've seen on historical fiction/novels. The scenery on some of them leave me longing even more for the lands of my ancestors and I know the stories will draw me in.

Have a great week!
