Viva la Vida

1) The song refers to the singing of choirs. Have you ever been in a choir or a vocal group? for most of my life I have belonged to a choir or vocal group. This past ten years has been hit or miss, because of my school schedule

2) Chris Martin sings of when he "ruled the world." If you were in charge and had infinite power, what would you change right away? I would heal the ills of the world

3) Chris used to be married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow. USA Today, The Washington Post and The Daily Telegraph have all run articles about how Gwyneth seems to annoy so very many people. What celebrity gets on your nerves? any of the celebutants (those who are famous for being famous)

4) Coldplay's first big hit was, "Yellow." What color are you wearing right now? my shirt is multi-colored

5) Sam remembers when she used to hear this song everywhere and can't believe that was 7 years ago! When is the last time you had a similar "my, how time flies!" moment? I helped my niece move into her Freshman dorm at college--wow!

6) In 2008, when "Viva la Vida" was popular, John Grisham's latest legal thriller, The Appeal, was jumping off bookshelves. What have you read this summer? I was a busy reader this summer: The Curvy Girls Club, The Little Paris Bookshop, All the Bright Places, The Paying Guests, Scents and Sensibility, The Kidney Hypothetical, Geek Girl, Murder on a Girls' Night Out, The Book of Speculation, Chose The Wrong Guy Gave Him The Wrong Finger, The Rocks, Paper Towns, The Crime of Julian Wells, As You Wish, Eight Hundred Grapes, Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie, The Bone Clocks, and Eeny Meeny!

7) Thinking of books: Let's say a biographer has taken the task of writing your biography. What would you title your life story? What if this is as good as it gets?

8) 2008 is also the year Paul Newman died of cancer. Name a Newman movie. Nobody's Fool

9) Random question: Do you like garlic? I like it but it doesn't like me!

If it wasn't for kids I don't think I would grow old. I can't get over the fact that my grandniece is going to be driving in two years!

Nobody's Fool is a good choice. Paul Newman and Bruce Willis. Quite a bit of cool in that one.

I understand about your niece being kind of like a sun dial for the passage of time.

Impressive reading list. I read The Paying Guests. Good writing but a manipulative narration, I thought. And I love your ability to heal the world of all ills. That just about covers it, doesn't it. So I hope you get that power.

Oddly, and sadly, I no longer have a voice. My vocal range is about 4 notes. It's sad.

Oh boy, you read a lot this summer. Most I have heard of, but not read. I'll have to check some of them out.
Isn't it crazy how much time "school" takes up?!?! After summer break, I feel like I'm working 4 jobs (the hours at least) not that we are back. There's always something to do!

That is neat that you helped your niece move in

Moving into a dorm is harder when you aren't the one staying to finish unpacking I think.

Garlic does have a tendency to come back and bite, for sure. Not one of its endearing qualities.
