Do you prefer to read collections that are all of works by the same author? Or collections by different writers? Consistency or variety?
Once I fall in love with a book, I tend to look at others by the author. I like consistency in quality of writing, though. And authors have fallen out of favor by becoming too formulaic (Jodi Picoult). On the other hand, I do like a one hit wonder.

I totally agree with you about Jodi Piccoult! But I have found that if I don't read them one after the other they are not all that bad. I like reading the same authors. But never all in a row.
I love reading a series, where the same characters continue on and age, and evolve. I can read them one after another with no problem at all, until I get to the last one, and don't want it to end yet.
If I fall in love with an author I have never read before, I tend to be drawn to their other stuff. After I first read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, I then read three of her books within the same year. I love her.
