musing mondays

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying about it.
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

1. What do you use for a bookmark? when I read physical books, I always have a pretty bookmark, although I've been known to use (clean) tissues, wrappers, or receipts--anything to avoid dog-earing the pages!

2. Do you ever mark (dog-ear, highlight, underline, write in, etc.) your books? If you do, what kind of things do you do? not fiction books, but occasionally I will in non-fiction or text books

3. Outside of GoodReads, do you have a system for tracking your books? (i.e., somewhere that you keep track of what you read, what to buy, what is on your TBR shelf, etc.?) Luckily, my Nook keeps track of my TBR and I have several shelves on it. I started keeping track on my blog, too.

4. Do you ever flip to the end before you start a book to find out how it ends? never, never, ever, never!

5. Do you judge a book by its cover? I absolutely do!

Interesting post! I touched on some of these issues in my post today. I track on Goodreads and one of my blogs (Curl up and Read).

I have recently added a notebook, handwritten, easier to carry around and access.

I have bookmarks for the books I wrote and published...and I use these when reading print books.

I no longer dog-ear...and am appalled that I once did!

I notice the cover, but the blurb is the deciding factor...and what others have said about the book.

Here is my

I used to always read the last page first. I find that harder to do with the Nook so I am more surprised by endings now

These are really fun questions!

- I used to buy lots of bookmarks, but now my preferred choice is colored strips of paper. I cut lots of them and when I find an interesting passage, I mark it.

- I used to hate the idea of writing on a book's pages. I have a notebook with me every time I read to log my thoughts after reading a chapter or to list down character names and places. Even if I employ the notebook, I still write on the book. :)

- I use the good old pen & paper.

- I resist the urge to do so.

- I sometimes buy a book because it has a pretty cover and a good description as well.

I love your answers to these fun questions - until I read answers to the first one I always thought I was the only one who was quite so lazy to use rubbish bits and pieces as a bookmark.

Cool. I am one of the "bad" people who dog-ears. LOL! I always have. The way I look at it, a well dog-eared book is a loved book :)
