still single...

The Single Woman’s 30-Day Blogging Challenge
1) Your response to everyone’s favorite question: “And why are YOU still single?”

One of the reasons is that I don't pick up interest cues. Because I am naturally interested in everyone, I don't pick up cues of interest when they're aimed my way. My mentor told me once that when I'm in conversation, my focus is on the person or people I'm talking to and that the attention is obvious and undivided (which he deemed one of my best qualities). And I can be charming. So I am oblivious to when others have intentions toward me.

Another reason is that I am not a classic beauty. I am a woman of substance. Not everyone's cup of tea. But that's all right because I know I'm beautiful.

Geographically, I live in a rather isolated part of the world. I find it difficult to meet eligible men my age. There aren't a lot of places to mingle with singles.

And I'm a bit of a snob, in that atop my list of dream qualities in a mate is intelligence/education.

Finally, I don't want to change who I am to fit someone else's expectations.

And I see nothing wrong with any of this....I plan to remain in the single group for the rest of my life.

What a serious, reflective answer! I admire how well you know yourself.

I used to just flippantly answer that I'm a lesbian, but now with same-sex marriage I can't do that anymore.
