musing mondays

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying about it.
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

Today I'm thinking about books-to-movies. I am excited to see The Fault In Our Stars later this week. And over the weekend I finally got to see The Book Thief. I generally like the book better than the movie, but that doesn't dampen my excitement for a lot of book adaptations. I'm trying to think of a movie I enjoyed more than the book but I'm coming up blank, although I can think of several movies I enjoyed as much as the book albeit for their differences.

So what about you? Are you a fan of books-to-movies?

I loved the book Friday Night Lights, but I simply ADORE the movie version! (Not the TV show, which I've never seen, but the movie with Billy Bob Thornton). That's one of the very few movies that I've enjoyed more than the original book format.

I guess it depends on who is directing them :)

One brilliant venture has been Lord of the Rings trilogy

No...not a fan of books to movies. :)

• Describe one of your reading habits.

One of my reading habits is to make sure I have a book with me when I have an appointment so I don't waste time waiting. I am sure most folks do that, though.

• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).

I haven't bought a book for ages. :) I borrow or get ARC's for review.

• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying about it.

I am reading Freud's Mistress. I am enjoying the read. I chose it because I loved the cover, and it was said to be similar to Loving Frank.

• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it?

I can't wait to start Previously Loved Treasures by Bette Lee Crosby. I LOVE all of Bette's books. She always has wonderful, loveable characters and great lessons to learn as her themes.

• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!

Bookish things that get my rant up is when folks think there choice of books is the end all, be all and no one else can choose a book better than they can.

• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

I want to ramble about giveaway on my blog. One for The Signature of All Things is going on now until June 30 and beginning on July 8, a copy of The Paris Architect will be give away. I loved The Paris Architect. Haven't read The Signature of All Things yet.

Thanks for a great Monday Musings.

Have a great day. Here is a link to my blog so you can stop by for the giveaways.

I see a grammatical error in my post above. It should be "their" not there.

Sorry about that.
