June 5: Home.

This is a timely prompt. Because I teach seniors in high school, the many meanings of "home" are being discussed. And, of course it makes me think about what home means to me.

There is my home--the dwelling where I live. There is the home of my heart--my hometown. There is the metaphysical home--where my family is. There is my home away from home--where I work, and spend significant time.

I'm on the second floor of this old house. I've lived here for 19 years and really have no plans of moving. It's comfortable, safe, and home. Plus, right now I have awesome neighbors!

My hometown is right along the Canadian border. It's the northeastern most continental city in the nation. It is a college town--boasting a University of Maine branch as well as a Community College. There are around 10,000 people. I whine about the long winters but I love the glorious autumns.

I threaten to move every winter. But because my family is here, I doubt I will ever leave the region. Maybe one day, who knows?

I love your house! It reminds me of the beginning of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Do you have a Rhoda or a Phyllis there?
